Structural, biochemical or electrical abnormalities in the brain, spinal cord or other nerves can result in a range of symptoms. Examples of symptoms include paralysis, muscle weakness, poor coordination, loss of sensation, seizures, confusion, pain and altered levels of consciousness.
Neurological disabilities include a wide range of disorders, such as epilepsy, learning disabilities, neuromuscular disorders, autism, ADD, brain tumours, and cerebral palsy, just to name a few.
Other conditions may be caused by tumours, degeneration, trauma, infections or structural defects. Regardless of the cause, all neurological disabilities result from damage to the nervous system. Depending on where the damage takes place, determines to what extent communication, vision, hearing, movement and cognition are impacted.
At Branksome we have a specialised team that is medically trained to deal with a variety of Neurological disorders. The home has close links with physiotherapists, speech therapists, and Macmillan nurses which helps to provide a complete care package.
The Branksome Park Care Centre offers bespoke specialist care to people who have complex nursing needs as a result of a neurological condition such as multiple sclerosis or a brain or spinal injury. Such care needs require a specially trained and high calibre nurse lead team.
Our service is offers residential nursing care as well as a rehabilitation pathway from slow stream and intensive therapy programs in partnership with community NHS therapy team.

When the end comes, we don’t believe any person should be asked to leave their home. We’ll speak with the person, their loved ones and healthcare professionals to create an end of life plan that is tailored exactly to the person’s wishes.
We’ll go above and beyond to provide the person with the care they need to live out the rest of their days as comfortably as possible. We’ll also provide family and friends with on-going support after their loved one has passed to help ease the grieving process.
